  • Over the next two years, or 120 hours, we will complete two compulsory units, Unit 1 and Unit 2 & eight Tasks

  • In Unit 1 (15 lessons, or 30 hours, and internally assessed), we will experience an introduction to Specialist Pathways in Art and Design, in other words we will work with two materials, wood and metal, and experience at least three practical techniques.

  • We will present all of our evidence in our ​A3 Coursework folder.

  • In Unit 2 (15 lessons, or 30 hours and externally assessed in January 2015) , we will be given an authentic client brief, have 20 hours of classroom time and independent preparation, plus 10 hours of classroom time to evidence solutions to the Brief. 

  • We will also complete 4 units (60 lessons) in our chosen pathway, which is "3D Product Design";

  • ​Unit 1 –Contextual Ref in Art & Design, ( that's all about showing cultural influences in your design)  

  • Unit 2 – 2D Visual Communication, ( that's all about producing sketches and drawings on paper) 

  • Unit 3 – 3D Visual Communication, (that's all about producing models and Computer Aided Design Drawings)​

  • Unit 11 - Working from 3-D design briefs

  • Eight Tasks will be set over the course, and each assignment will give  us the opportunity to submit evidence necessary to fulfil requirements of each of the optional units, 1,2,3.​&11.

  • Evidence for optional units, 1,2, 3 & 11 will also be  found in Compulsory Units 1 and 2.

  • In other words, every single "mark" that we make on paper can be used as evidence towards our final Award. ​

  • We must always think twice before destroying any work.
