The Key Stage 4 Experience.

During year 9 the students have an option to complete a BTEC Award in 3D product design, which is comparable to one GCSE.

BTEC Level 2 Award in Art and Design, 3D Product Design 2012 – 2014  (1 GCSE) 

The group will complete two compulsory units, A and B.

In A (30 guided learning hours and internally assessed), they will experience an introduction to Specialist Pathways in Art and Design, in other words they will work with two materials and experience at least three techniques. They will present all of their evidence on a visual display.

In B (30 guided learning hours and externally assessed), to be delivered in January 2014, they will be given a design brief. They will then have 20 hours of classroom and independent preparation, plus 10 hours of classroom time to evidence solutions for the Brief.



They will also complete 3 units (120glh)  in their chosen pathway, 3D Product Design; Unit 1 –Contextual Ref in Art & Design, Unit 2 – 2D Visual Communication & Unit 3 – 3D Visual Communication.

Eight Assignments will be set over the course, and each assignment will give the students opportunity to submit evidence necessary to fulfil requirements of each of the optional units, 1,2 & 3. 

Evidence for optional units, 1,2 & 3 will also be  found in Compulsory Units A and B. Basically everything that they do can be used as evidence towards their final Qualification.
